LAS VEGAS—Artificial intelligence (AI) innovations continue to shape the various mainstream and niche entertainment industries, including adult entertainment.
This point was highlighted during a highly anticipated AI panel at this year’s AVN Adult Entertainment Expo on Thursday, Jan. 22. Held in the new AVN Business Lounge on the second floor of The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, the panel featured leading experts in AI and the adult industry.
Those sitting on the panel included Brad Mitchell, the president of industry hosting giant MojoHost; Wesley Ellul, president of Technotainment Streaming Media; Andreas Loupasakis, the head of revenue at Infloww; Craig D’Agnese, vice president of the key accounts division at CreatorLive; Julie Allaire, owner of OhChat.com; and Stewart Tongue, owner of EngineFood.com.
During the discussion, panelists built on the ongoing trends in AI, such as the evolution of large language models toward the generation of hyperrealistic synthetic versions of real-life adult content creators and industry stars.
One common strategy in the adult industry is to use artificial intelligence to automate and program chatbot replicas of performers to maximize user reach. And this is one area Mitchell addressed when responding to questions from the panel’s moderator, Tongue, about the development of such tech in this framework and use case
“So, like at MojoHost, besides doing the infrastructure and having the GPUs, we partner with one of our clients, where they resell a few of the solutions [available],” said Mitchell. He then asked audience members whether they own and/or operate a management agency for high-volume OnlyFans content creators. Several responded.
“Although there are a lot of things that you can do with AI, we’re not yet on the level of like, you just click a button, and it works,” Loupasakis said. “It’s important to just highlight that…you also kind of need to treat the AI as an employee. You need to train the AI. You need to invest personal time. You do need to invest in people.”
Later in the panel discussion, Tongue elaborated on several examples where artificial intelligence may not be a reliable option, such as in search-engine indexing and the creation of potentially fraudulent content that misrepresents the product or service users are seeking.
“I’m a writer,” explained Tongue. “I write millions of words a year commercially. I use AI when writing emails or similar content because it’s not being scrutinized by search engines like Google. But anything you’re putting in front of a search engine, you’re literally damaging their site if you’re just having AI do it for you.”
This is especially true for the duplicative nature of search-engine-indexed content, such as metadata, copyright, and other navigation elements. Other panelists—namely D’Agnese, Allaire, and Ellul—expanded on additional use cases for artificial intelligence in the adult industry, including age verification and content moderation.
