NEW YORK, N.Y.—The Pleasure Chest, a pioneering U.S. sexual wellness retailer, announced today that its West Village location will close during the last week of February 2026 as part of a “thoughtful consolidation” of its New York City retail presence.
The brand will continue to serve New Yorkers from its expansive Upper East Side store, which remains open “and thriving,” a company spokesperson said.
“The West Village store has been a meaningful part of The Pleasure Chest’s New York story, but the company says the move reflects a strategic decision to focus resources into a single, larger location that better represents the brand today — and where it’s headed next,” they added.
“Our Upper East Side store is truly a flagship for who we are now,” said Brian Robinson, CEO of The Pleasure Chest. “It’s a beautiful, spacious location that allows us to offer a broader product selection, host more educational events, and create the kind of welcoming, inclusive shopping experience our customers expect. Consolidating into one New York store allows us to better serve our community while staying true to our values.”
The remaining New York location offers “a modern, thoughtfully designed retail environment that reflects The Pleasure Chest’s evolution as a leader in pleasure, education and sexual wellness. Customers will find an expanded product assortment, expert staff, and the brand’s signature focus on inclusivity, consent, and pleasure-forward education,” the spokesperson described.
The West Village store will remain open through the final week of February, giving customers time to visit, shop, and “celebrate a location that has played a role in the neighborhood’s sex-positive retail history.”
A “For Lease” sign will go up this week as part of a standard transition process.
